Selwyn Garraway - watercolors Watercolor magazine wrote, “Selwyn Garraway’s watercolors are a step into the past, a world reminiscent of an old-fashioned English village where life seemed more ordered and tranquil.” Born and raised in Trinidad during the time the Caribbean island was making its transition from a British colony to a republic, Selwyn received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Since 1992, Garraway has resided and maintained his studio in Lower Manhattan, New York where he continues to expand his portfolio, exhibit and accept commission work. His work has been exhibited at such art institutions as the Nelson Rockhill Art Gallery and Atkins Museum in Kansas City, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and Guildhall Museum in East Hampton, New York, among others. The exhibit features Selwyn’s impressionistic watercolors which depict the personality of the architecture with the magic of its surroundings, all in alignment. This is his first exhibit in Memphis.
