tom clifton

Mezzo fresco artist Tom Clifton focuses on strong use of color, fusing the colors with a plaster base that he has sculpted.  His process is based on the mezzo fresco techniques made popular by 17th century artists.

Tom, who is a self-taught artist, has been a part of the Memphis art community for more than 26 years and is the owner of T Clifton Art Gallery (2571 Broad Avenue, Memphis).   He has been nationally recognized by Veranda magazine for his custom and conservation framing talents.  As well as, HGTV has featured Tom.

In addition to richness and diversity that living in Memphis has brought to his work, the influences of his childhood in the bayous of Louisiana, second home on St. John (US Virgin Islands) and travels to the Caribbean and travels to Europe often emerge in the art.  He utilizes this varied art familiarity while annually serving as the resident art interpreter for WKNO’s Gallery 10 Art Auction.  Tom has recently participated in several national juried art festivals including Atlanta and Boca Raton, and has on-going exhibits in Memphis and St. John, US Virgin Islands.  He has been featured by RSVP magazine and HGTV.

Argus

While Argus turned two on March 30, he is still all things puppy.  Fortunately, he continues to work hard to learn his responsibilities as greeter.  And as a St. Bernard, he is a gentle giant with a great personality.  Stop by for a big hug - all 160 pounds of love.

Pat

Doesn’t everyone have a bicycle in their gallery?  Pat showed off this cool bike, courtesy of Revolutions, as part of the publicity leading up to “A New Face for an Old Broad.”  The event showcased the maturing of our Broad Avenue Arts District and the goal of creating the connector between the Greenline and Overton Park.

When not promoting Broad Avenue, Pat is busy promoting the gallery, arranging our exhibits, and overseeing the business side of the gallery.
