Dorothy Northern’s Work
About Dorothy Northern
After 23 years of teaching Art in Memphis, Dorothy opted to turn her focus on creating jewelry full time. In other word, living the dream!
She originally trained as a printmaker with a focus on intaglio. Etching and engraving metal plates and seeing the ink pressed down into incised textures is when she first fell in love with moving metal. Since childhood, Dorothy has made jewelry. At first using found objects and plants, then moving on to precious metals, gemstones and vintage finds.
Her quest to learn from other jewelers is fueled by her love of travel, giving her a nudge to travel throughout the US and Europe. Most Thursdays and Saturdays, you can find Dorothy at T Clifton Art. Drop by and learn more about her fine art jewelry. Also, check out our blog section for an interview between Dorothy and WKNO’s Kacky Walton.
