Krista Carlsen

Oil and Cold Wax

Krista Carlsen’s Work

About Krista Carlsen

Krista Carlsen is an abstract landscape artist from Illinois. She is a native Floridian and has also lived in Duluth, Minnesota. She traveled the country while homeschooling her two children. Now with her children grown, her focus is on painting.

Krista is a self-taught artist with a background in interior decorating. She creates unique pieces using oil and cold wax. Her process includes incorporating textures, colors, and waxes in her mixed media approach. She starts with abstract acrylics and builds layers with oil and wax to add depth to her art. Krista seeks peace in the finished pieces, which bring calm to viewers.

Krista creates art to bring hope, joy, and peace into people’s homes. She puts her heart into each piece, aiming to change the world stunningly and uniquely. Krista has been part of the art scene in Door County, Wisconsin for over seven years. She is also involved with the Gulf Coast Arts Alliance and enjoys the beaches of Alabama. When not painting, she loves exploring the lakes and woods of Door County.
