About Marlene East
When creating glass art, I’m in a happy place! – Marlene East
While creating glass art is therapy for Marlene, her attention to detail and skill of achieving intricate design with glass is exceptional.
What puts Marlene in a zone of contentment? Cutting intricate pieces of fusible sheet glass. Layering glass powders. Grinding and polishing edges of glass. Painting wood panel backgrounds. Smashing bottles to upcycle in shard art. she discovered an art form that resonates in her soul.
Marlene shares that opening the kiln after firing a detailed art piece to nearly 1500 degrees is the greatest feeling. She has waited 24-36 hours to finally glimpse how the glass layers took on new depth, dimension, and form.
She was a licensed counselor for many years. She often used art therapy to help clients heal from trauma and tragedy. This helped her to further hone her expertise with glass. She finds glass mesmerizing and embraces the challenge of learning the myriad of ways to create art from glass.
Her studio is located in the Panama City Beach area.
