About Susan Davies
Contemporary abstract artist Susan Davies trained in painting and drawing at Gustavus Adolphus College. She furthered her training at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art in Rome, Italy. She now lives in Buffalo, Minnesota. There, she actively plays the flute, focusing on ancient Celtic melodies. She is also an artist and educator. Her paintings arise from the quiet conversation between breath and brush.
Artist Statement:
They show traces of wind, water, and time. They aren’t pictures of nature but meditations on its pulse. They reflect the unseen movements that shape what we see.
Each mark holds a bit of stillness, a moment caught between intention and surrender. With fluid gestures and shifting transparencies, I aim for a balance between control and release, presence and disappearance.
The work invites viewers to slow down their gaze. It creates a space where wonder and calm can grow. In these fields of form and emptiness, I hope viewers feel a gentle invitation: to wander, to listen, and to be carried by their own quiet journey
