Tanya Kirouac
Cold Wax and Oil
Tanya Kirouac’s Work
About Tanya Kirouac
Tanya Kirouac creates oil and cold wax paintings. She creates her contemporary landscape paintings at her studio near Chicago.
Tanya’s work depicts simple images of nature and stillness interpreted through color, patterns and form. These paintings are a collaboration of emotions and memories which share her story and connect with viewers. Using primarily oil or encaustic, she paints abstract landscapes which emerge from lingering memories of places visited that resonate with the artist.
WHAT IS COLD WAX?
Cold wax is a mixture of beeswax, mineral spirits and resin. The medium is perfect for creating layers when mixed with oil paint. It needs no heat and is quite soft like cake frosting. Cold wax helps to extend the paint film, shortens drying time and she uses it to enable her removal process.
